Welcome to the Colorado Department of Local Affairs. At the department, it is our mission to "help Colorado communities." Through this mission, we support local governments and build communities' capacity to serve their citizens.
Recognizing Colorado citizens receive most of their services from local governments and community-based organizations, the General Assembly created the Department of Local Affairs to bolster local governments' ability to meet Coloradans' needs. The department focuses on improving communities' physical conditions, building partnerships, augmenting local leadership and governing capacities, and improving opportunities for all individuals residing in Colorado communities.
